MA
Method

Rough outside.
Precise inside.

01 / 間 · ma

Ma is the Japanese idea of meaningful space: an interval, a pause, the gap between two things that lets each of them be seen. A garden is the stones and the space around them. A song is the notes and the silence between them.

That is the whole brand. We leave out the things perfume usually leans on: the name, the story, the ornament. What’s left is a number, a scent, and the space for you to decide what it is.

02 / Why numbers

Most fragrances arrive with a name that tells you how to feel: midnight, velvet, ocean. We would rather you decide for yourself.

So every fragrance gets a code. The code is the name, the way you ask for it, and the main mark on the bottle. The numbers weren’t drawn at random; each one was chosen deliberately. We don’t attach promises to them. If one comes to mean something to you, that meaning is yours.

03 / Reading a label
#1688
Code

The permanent identity of a formula. The bottle and the sample share it. It is never reused.

間

The only other mark, kept small and printed in orange. The number stays first.

Scent family

Each code sits in one of two groups, Woods, Ambers & Aromatics or Florals & Soft Scents. A description of the scent, not a rule about who wears it.

04 / Materials

The references are exposed concrete, unfinished architecture, archive boxes and brushed metal. Rooms where nothing is hidden and nothing is decoration.

Thick, clear glass. A matte black cap. A paper label with a torn edge. That is the plan for the full bottle. The money goes into what’s inside.

Samples come in a clear glass spray tube with the orange 間 printed on the glass, in a matte black box that carries the number on a torn paper strip.

Concept renderings. Final formula, bottle and packaging may change. Sample shown at 2 ML.

05 / The inside

Right now every code is a concept in development. When samples are available, people wear them and tell us how they smell, how long they last and whether they’d buy a bottle.

That feedback informs which codes we develop into full bottles, alongside scent quality, safety, production feasibility and cost. Full ingredient and allergen lists are published with every release. We don’t publish notes or performance figures until they’re confirmed.

06 / Releases

New codes are released when they are ready. Not to fill a calendar, and not to manufacture scarcity.

NO STORY YOU NEED TO BELIEVE.
JUST SOMETHING YOU CAN SMELL.
PERFECTLY UNFINISHED.
