Questions.

The mystery stops here. Everything you need to know before you request a sample.

01 / The codes

What does MA mean?

間 (ma) is a Japanese word for meaningful space: the interval, the pause, the gap between things that lets each one be seen. It's why our bottles carry no name or story. Just a number, the scent, and room for you to decide what it is.

What do the numbers mean?

Each code is the permanent name of one fragrance. The bottle and its sample share it, and it is never reused. The numbers weren't picked at random; each was chosen deliberately. We don't attach promises to them. Whether a number comes to mean something is up to you.

What do the two scent groups mean?

Each code sits in Woods, Ambers & Aromatics or Florals & Soft Scents. The group describes how the fragrance smells, not who should wear it. Wear the number you like.

How many codes are there?

26 scent concepts are in development: 14 in Woods, Ambers & Aromatics and 12 in Florals & Soft Scents. Each is a concept, not a finished formula. Sample feedback informs which ones become full bottles, alongside scent quality, safety, production feasibility and cost.

Will there be new codes?

Yes, when they're ready. Join the list at the bottom of any page and you'll hear first. No fixed calendar.

02 / Free samples

Can I buy a bottle?

Not yet. Nothing is for sale. Some codes will be developed into full 50 ML bottles. Tap "Notify me" on any code and we'll email you when they're released.

Can I request samples now?

The Free samples page always shows whether requests are open. If they aren't, tap "Notify me" there and we'll tell you when they open.

Are the samples really free?

Yes. Each sample is a 2 ML vial and costs nothing. You pay only shipping, calculated at checkout from USPS retail postage for your country. We add no handling fee or markup, and you see the exact amount before you pay.

How many can I request?

One of each code per person and address. You can request several different codes in one order, or come back later for a code you haven't tried. The limit is checked when you order, so the same code can't be claimed twice.

What if a code runs out?

Samples are made in small batches. When a code's batch is claimed, it shows "Samples all claimed". Tap "Join the waitlist" on that code to hear if more become available.

How do ratings work?

Once your samples ship, your order page lets you rate each one: an overall face from "Not for me" to "Love it", how long it lasted, how far it carried, and whether you'd buy a bottle. Add a note if you like. Totals are shown on each code's page. Names and notes are never shown.

Do I need an account?

No. Requesting samples and rating them work without an account; the link to your order page is enough. Account features are coming later.

03 / Shipping

Where do you ship?

We plan to ship worldwide. Perfume counts as a flammable good for shipping, so some destinations may be unavailable. Available destinations and prices are shown at checkout. Import duties and taxes, if any, are paid by the recipient.

How fast?

We aim to ship samples within two business days of payment. U.S. delivery by USPS Ground Advantage usually takes 2 to 5 business days. International delivery times vary by carrier and destination.

04 / Returns

Can I return a sample?

Samples can't be returned. They're free and meant to be opened. If one arrives damaged or leaking, email a photo to support@maunseen.com within 7 days and we'll resend it if stock allows, or refund the shipping.

And full bottles, later?

When bottles launch, unopened and sealed bottles can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Opened fragrance can't be returned for hygiene reasons. That's what samples are for.

05 / Ingredients

What's in it?

Alcohol, fragrance and water. The ingredients are printed on each sample box, and the full ingredient and allergen list for each code is published when it is released.

Do you publish longevity and projection?

Not yet. Notes and performance are published only once a formula is final and tested. Skin, climate and application all change how a fragrance performs.
